ILOILO CITY (PIA) — Some 48 applicants were hired on the spot (HOTS), directly benefiting from the 1,768 job vacancies offered by 21 companies in the Nationwide Job Fair held at the SM City Iloilo.
Through the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 6, in collaboration with the Public Employment Service Office- Iloilo City and other government agencies, several activities were conducted, on top of the job fair’s primary goal of providing employment opportunities.
Held alongside the activity is the releasing of livelihood assistance under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), DOLE Adjustments Measure Program (AMP), and contract signing with the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) emergency employment program beneficiaries.
It also featured the Kadiwa ng Pangulo, a market of local farmers and producers.
Completing the array of services was the Help Desk composed of representatives from 16 government agencies that assisted clients on their needs.
DOLE 6 is also constantly monitoring the status of 45 near hired applicants who just need to comply with some requirements from their prospective employers.
Meanwhile, a total of P2.8 million livelihood assistance was released to five partner local government units that will benefit 128 members of various associations.
The local government units with corresponding projects were Tobias Fornier, Antique Cattle Fattening Project; Brgy. Sua and Brgy. Tabas, San Dionisio, Iloilo Fishing Gears and Accessories; Brgy. San Roque, Estancia, Iloilo Oyster Culture Project; and Brgy. Zamora- Melliza, Iloilo City-Rice Retailing and Carinderia.
Ten identified medium enterprises beneficiaries under the DOLE Adjustment Measures Program (DOLE-AMP) were also awarded a total assistance of P4.6 million for product development and innovation, capacity building, and business enhancement application.
TUPAD orientation and contract signing were also conducted in the municipality of Leganes, Iloilo for 120 informal workers. The allocated package for the salaries, personal protective equipment, and group personal accident insurance summed up to P667,080.
The Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) Fair also was participated by six Kabuhayan partners that offered quality products such as bags made of pandan and buri leaves, woven products from hablon, fresh farm products and preserves, sold at low prices.
The 31 associations assisted by the Department of Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, and National Irrigation Administration also participated as resellers.
The KNP further highlighted rice sold by the NIA at P29 per kilo or at P290 per 10 kilograms pack.
Financial grants to three farmers’ associations or cooperatives and a transport logistic to a local government unit were also turned over by the DA at the KNP. (AAL/AGP/PIA 6 with reports from DOLE 6)
