CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The 4th Infantry “Scorpion” Battalion (4IB) of the Philippine Army seized various explosive devices from the members of the Communist-Terrorist group KLG MAV of SRMA-4D and MRGU of STRPC following a fire fight on June 25,2024 in Sitio Balagway, Barangay Benli, Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro.
The 10-minute encounter with the 10 terrorists resulted in the confiscation of one M16 weapon, three rounds of 40mm, explosives, 5.56mm and 7.62mm ammunition, and subversive documents, a press release from the 4IB said.
Accordingly, the encounter ended with no one injured among the soldiers while it is still being ascertained on how many were killed and wounded among the terrorist groups due to the heavy traces of blood at the scene.
The government troops said that the clash is the result of diligent communication and report by the citizens that there are armed people who are staying, extorting and threatening their community.
Meanwhile, 4IB Commander, Lt. Col. Antonio P. Yago, continues to call on citizens to report to the military when there is trouble within their area.
Yago also emphasized in his call for the remaining members of the CPP-NPA-NDF terrorist group to return to the government to live peacefully with their families while there is still time. (GATS/PIA MIMAROPA)
