QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — Leslie Caranog, a 4Ps beneficiary, and mother of five from Barangay Karuhatan in Valenzuela City, shared how the Marcos administration’s nutrition program under the Bagong Pilipinas brand of governance, has positively impacted her family.
“Mas lumawak ang kaalaman ko sa tamang nutrisyon na dapat na ibigay ko sa aking mga anak,” she said. (My knowledge about proper nutrition for my children has expanded significantly)
On July 19, 2024, over 30 mothers benefiting from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) participated in “Usapang Nutrisyon sa Barangay,” a nutrition education initiative.
“Ang mga programa para sa aming 4Ps ay nagbigay ng tamang impormasyon at praktikal na tips sa pagpili at paghahanda ng masusustansyang pagkain,” she narrated. (The programs for us 4Ps beneficiaries have provided accurate information and practical tips on selecting and preparing nutritious meals.)
The initiative, spearheaded by the National Nutrition Council – National Capital Region (NNC-NCR) in collaboration with Valenzuela City’s local committees and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-NCR), aligns with the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023-2028.
It promotes three key strategies: proper nutrition, positive nutrition habits, and ensuring access to nutrition services.

“Ngayon, mas sigurado akong nakukuha ang kailangan ng aking mga anak sa kanilang paglaki at pag-aaral,” she further said. (Now, I’m more confident that my children are getting what they need for their growth and education.)
The commitment to improving nutrition and social welfare in Bagong Pilipinas has yielded positive results not just for Nanay Leslie but for other Filipino families, as evidenced by the recent events.
This event, part of a broader effort implemented across 17 Local Government Units (LGUs), showcases the government’s dedication to addressing malnutrition and food insecurity.
This success story demonstrates how the Marcos administration’s focus on grassroots education and support is empowering families to make informed decisions about nutrition, ultimately contributing to the well-being and development of Filipino communities. (GLG/PIA-NCR)
