53 newly grad joins DOLE’s Government Internship Program

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — At least 53 newly graduated Romblomanons were accepted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)- Romblon Provincial Office for this year’s Government Internship Program (GIP).

An orientation for GIP beneficiaries, held April 14 in Odiongan, Romblon, was also attended by Public Employment Service Office (PESO) managers from different local government units (LGUs) to show their full support for the Department’s program.

GIP beneficiaries will be assigned to government offices such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Romblon State University (RSU), and LGUs.

The program aims to immerse fresh graduates in government as well as hone their sense of leadership and public service, noted in a DOLE press release.

During the orientation, DOLE Provincial Director Carlo B. Villaflores reiterated the objectives and guidelines of the program, and the General Labor Standards, work ethics, and professionalism. He stressed that the program, since its first implementation, has developed competitive and competent interns.

GIP is a component of KABATAAN 2000 under Executive Order No. 139 s. 1993, and DOLE Administrative Order No. 260-15, which aims to provide opportunities and engage young workers to serve the general public in government agencies/entities’ projects and programs at the national and local levels.
