6 FMRs in remote Abra communities to be concreted this year

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) — Six farm-to-market roads (FMRs) in remote communities in the province are set to be concreted this year.

These are the Barangay Bacooc to Paganao FMR in Lagangilang, Brgy Ba-I to Pang-ot FMR in Lagayan, Brgy. Poblacion to Sitio Caguyen and Cawayan FMR in Licuan-Baay, Brgy. Poblacion Ayyeng to Dumagas FMR in Manabo, Brgy. Nagcanasan to Brookside in Pilar and Brgy. Ud-udiao to Sitio Mabungtot in Sallapadan.

All the FMR concreting projects with total cost of P66 million are located in geographically isolated and disadvantage areas.

Said projects will be funded by the Department of Agriculture (DA) through the initiative of Abra Lone District Representative Menchie Bernos and National League of the Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) President JB Bernos.

Abra Agriculture Program Coordinating Office (APCO) Head Dr. Rosemarie Tesoro said that these projects will boost the transportation of goods and services to the far-flung communities.

“These FMR projects will help to deliver the basic services of the government to these barangays and likewise to improve the transportation of local produce for the benefits of our farmers,” she said. (JDP/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
