6 individuals arrested for Comelec gun ban violation in Abra town

Abra Police Provincial Office Provincial Community Affairs and Development Unit Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Pel-ey shares update on the peace and order situation of the province of Abra in relation to the 2025 National and Local Elections.

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – Six individuals were nabbed during a joint operations of Abra police units at Sitio Curapo, Poblacion in the municipality of Dolores, a day before the May 12 national and local elections.

Abra Police Provincial Office Provincial Community Affairs and Development Unit Chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Pel-ey reported that a joint team of the Dolores Municipal Police Station, Regional Highway Patrol Unit, and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion arrested six male individuals after discovering firearms in their vehicle at around 6:40pm of May 11, 2025.

“The Dolores MPS, RHPU, and RMFB conducted checkpoint and flagged down a white Toyota Hilux with an improvised plate number. Nag-conduct sila ng visual search at noong binuksan nila yung floormat ng sasakyan ay may three firearms and three sling bags,” he reported.

Investigation and processing of needed documents for the filing of cases including violation of the Comelec gun ban are still ongoing.

Earlier on May 10, 2025, security forces arrested 12 individuals and confiscated 12 firearms and ammunition in Barangay Laskig, Pidigan, Abra. (JJMT, PIA-CAR, Abra)
