618 Camiguin informal sector workers receive over P2.6-M TUPAD pay

CAMIGUIN (PIA) — A total of 618 Camiguingnons received a total of P2.6 million worth of wages during the recent Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) payout at Poblacion, Mahinog Covered Court, and Guinsiliban, here.

According to Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 Camiguin Provincial Field Office Chief Arlyn Z. Bael, the payout was in partnership with Mahinog’s Local Government Units (LGUs) through Mayor Rey Lawrence K. Tan and Guinsiliban Mayor Helenio N. Abecia Bael.

“Each LGU had 309 beneficiaries who received P4,280 each for their 10-day community work, such as street cleaning, declogging of canal irrigation, and tree planting assigned in their respective municipalities,” said Bael, adding that the work in LGU Guinsiliban began on June 18-27 and Mahinog on June 19-28.

Rep. Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo, Gov. Xavier Jesus D. Romualdo, Tan, and other barangay officials and staff supported the payout.

TUPAD is a flagship program of DOLE that aids in supporting vulnerable Filipinos by providing emergency employment and income to displaced workers, underemployed individuals, and seasonal workers in addressing the needs of disadvantaged and displaced workers during unforeseen circumstances.
