ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) — A total of 681,727 Capiceños have registered with the Philippine Identification System based on data from the Philippine Statistics Authority as of Jan. 31 this year.
PSA Public Information Officer Anna Bolante, during the Kapihan program of the Capiz Government Information Center of the Philippine Information Agency and Capiz Provincial Government Communications Group, said that the figure represents about 81.22 percent of the Updated Projected Mid-Year Population for the Philippines Based on the 2015 Census of Population Results.
“We now cater to all ages in the registration to PhilSys,” stressed Bolante, noting that the registration into the national identification of children with ages one year old and below has started in the last quarter of 2024.
The ongoing registration is at CityMall-Roxas Avenue and Robinsons Place-Roxas in Brgy. Lawaan in this city.
The registration center at the CityMall also provides correction and updating of records services for those with concerns in their national ID.
“We also have mobile registrations in the local government units because we want to bring the national identification services closer to the people,” she added.
During the Kapihan program, Bolante also reported that 592,363 national IDs in polyethylene chloride (PVC) cards have been delivered as of Jan. 24 and 210,444 were issued in paper form as of Jan. 31.
The PSA also warned the public against text or short messaging service scams on PhilSys registration after receiving reports that some national ID holders received SMS messages and calls asking for information needed to update their records. (AGP/AAL/PIA Capiz/Cover photo from PSA Capiz)
