During the 11th Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas held in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro on Aug. 6,  PRO MIMAROPA Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Roger Quesada, said that of the 11 towns in the province, the towns of Looc, Lubang, Mamburao, Paluan, Sta Cruz, Magsaysay and Abra de Ilog are now under SIPS status, leaving the four other towns of San Jose, Magsaysay, Rizal, and Sablayan.

Seven towns of Occidental Mindoro have been declared insurgency-free, according to MIMAROPA Police Regional Director PBGen. Roger Quesada during the 11th Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas.

Calintaan Municipal Police Station (MPS), led by PCapt. Dennis Tariga, reported that their office, together with the local government unit (LGU), and the Philippine Army (PA), are relentless in working together to preserve the internal peace and security in their area through the conduct of the Serbisyo Caravan.

This activity, seen to undermine the guerilla tactics of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), brings various assistance from national government agencies closer to the people, especially those in far-flung areas.

In a recent interview, Capt. Aisyr Pagba of the 76th Infantry Battalion-Philippine Army stationed in the northern part of the province said that towns under SIPS not only enjoy a more stable peace and security but tourism and economy also get a boost as investors have greater confidence in these areas.
