740K Mindoreños are now PhilSys Step 2 registered

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Oriental Mindoro had successfully registered 740,278 Mindoreños through the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Step 2 registration.

The 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) record showed that the PhilSys step 2 registered accounts for 81.50 percent of Oriental Mindoro’s total population of 908,339 people, a press release from PSA Oriental Mindoro said.

The PSA Oriental Mindoro carried out a number of initiatives. One of which was the reopening of mobile registration stations in the municipalities of Puerto Galera and Bansud in April and May of 2024.

The allocated registration personnel in the Socorro local government unit (LGU) were also sent to Pola town in order to register the remaining Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in said municipality.

Also, a mobile registration was conducted in the remote Municipality of San Teodoro community of Barangay Bigaan, the media release added.

The goal of the registration, which took place on 05 April 2024, was to register indigenous individuals who had not yet been registered with PhilSys. Nine of the 61 residents that were registered also obtained their ePhil IDs.

PSA Oriental Mindoro likewise said it maintains PhilSys registration on wheels, school mobile registration, and institutional mobile registration in an effort to strengthen the implementation of PhilSys.

Additionally, PSA participated in information-gathering activities and attended ABC meetings and caravans in different municipalities of Oriental Mindoro. (DN/PIA MIMAROPA-Oriental Mindoro)
