DAVAO CITY— An initial batch of 78 Dabawenyo senior citizens ages 80 years old and above will be receiving cash incentives under Republic Act 11982. The first payout will be held at Davao City Recreational Center (Almendreas Gym) on February 26.
“Mag-start na po ang ang implementation ng RA 11982 and this is the octogenarian, nonagenarian and centenarian act our pasiuna na pambungad (inaugural) for this implementation will be the simultaneous payout on February 26,” says Maria Victoria Arancon, project development officer, National Commission for Senior Citizens Cluster-VIII Davao Region.
Under the Expanded Centenarian Act (RA 11982) senior citizens who have reached the milestone ages of 80, 85, 90, and 95 are eligible to receive cash incentives
Those reaching milestone ages of 80, 85, 90, 95 will receive P10,000. While those reaching 100 years old will receive P100,000.
Of the 78 senior citizen-beneficiaries in the first batch, one is a centenarian.
Arancon said Davao City will be the pilot area for the payout and similar activities are planned in Davao del Norte, Davao de Oro and Davao Occidental.
She said there is no definite schedule yet for the payouts in the provinces but they already validated the persons that will comprise the first batch of the provincial payouts.
“For Davao del Norte we have 29, for Davao de Oro 10, and another 10 for Davao Occidental,” Arancon said.
She said the numbers of beneficiaries might be few as they had limited time to prepare in the month of January.
“We prioritize the beneficiaries who already had their birthdays from January 1 to 31,” Arancon said.
She added that for birthday celebrants who will be reaching the milestone ages of 80, 85, 90. 95 and 100 and who have not yet applied for the cash incentives, the NCSC is still applications together with the local social welfare development offices and OSCAs (Office of the Senior Citizen Affairs)
Applicants only need to bring their birth certificate or a PhilSys ID. They can apply at the local OSCA offices where an existing partnership with the NCSC designates OSCAs as the ones that will cater to expanded Centenarian Act beneficiaries. (PIA/RGA)
