9,000 Capiceños received ‘ayuda’ from various gov’t agencies

ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) — At least 9,000 Capiceños received P5,000.00 each under the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on October 12-13 at the Villareal Stadium in Roxas City.

The AKAP payout was among the government activities during the two-day “Bagong Pilipinas Caravan of Services” organized by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) to help the beneficiaries in the province improve their quality of life.

“This is more than just about delivering services. It is about showing our people that the government cares and it is here to support every step of the way,” said Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Terence Calatrava during a program that officially kicked off the caravan.

“I’m very much thankful sa mga opportunity kag kay Presidente Bongbong Marcos. Gamiton ko ang akon mabaton sa AKAP sa akon pamilya, sa palangabuhian kag galastuson sang akon mga estudyante,” said Sonia Vargas from Brgy. Malocloc Norte in Ivisan town.

Another caravan of services beneficiary, Jonel Borado from Brgy. San Ramon in Pilar town was also thankful to the government for one unit of a 20-footer fiberglass reinforced plastic fishing boat with a marine engine and underwater fittings.

“This will greatly help my livelihood and an opportunity for an additional income as the assistance will further improve the capability of my daily operation,” Borado noted in Hiligaynon.

Four other fishermen from Pilar also received similar assistance from the Department of Agriculture (DA) – Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) to support the development of the fisheries industry in the province.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines, on the other hand, conducted free legal services and consultations.

The following are other government agencies participated in the delivery of various services: Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Philippine Army, Department of Information and Communication Technology, Philippine Statistics Authority, National Telecommunications Commission, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Social Security System, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Migrant Workers, Land Transportation Office, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine National Police, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Department of Health, Commission on Elections, Government Service Insurance System, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Labor and Employment, Home Development Mutual Fund, Professional Regulation Commission, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and Bureau of Fire Protection.

The caravan is the first of its kind to be conducted by the OPAV in the island of Panay. (PIA Capiz)
