ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) – Ninety-four former rebels (FRs) in the province have received P5,000 each in financial assistance from the government, including opportunities to live a peaceful life in their communities.
Former rebel beneficiaries received assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) under Executive Order No. 70.
Capiz Gov. Fredenil Castro endorsed the beneficiaries, who were part of the 200 former rebels and their supporters who want to lead normal lives.
“Kamo palangga sang aton gobyerno nga nagatuytoy sa inyo sa tama nga dalanon. Ang inyo gobyerno probinsyal, sa tanan nga tinion, nagasuporta sa inyo,” Gov. Castro said during the distribution of the financial assistance.
(The government loves you and will continue to guide you down the right path. Rest assured that the provincial government will always be there to support you.)
Known for his “May Gugma Na, May Angga Pa” (inclusive public service with care and compassion) brand of governance, Castro also conveyed his joy in seeing that the former rebels have decided to adopt a brighter outlook and direction in life.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development Office 6 staff and the Provincial ECLIP Committee members joined in handing over the assistance to the beneficiaries.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office ECLIP focal person Jorin Tan said that another batch of former rebels would also receive the same assistance.
She also lauded the quick response of the DSWD 6 to the provincial government’s endorsement of recipients for the program.
“They will also receive livelihood assistance,” Tan noted, adding that the facilitation and certification of documents for it are now underway.
The E-CLIP is an integrated reintegration program of the national government for former rebels and their family members to address their economic, social, and psychological rehabilitation needs. (EAD-PLF/PIA Capiz)
