LEGAZPI CITY (PIA) – 9th Infantry “SPEAR” Division and Joint Task Force Bicolandia (JTFB) Commander MGEN Adonis Bajao conveyed his sincere gratitude to the dedicated members of the division’s Multi-Sector Advisory Board (MSAB) during the MSAB meeting held recently at the Villa Caceres Hotel in Naga City.

He acknowledged their unwavering commitment and recognized them as pivotal catalysts for change.
“To the MSAB, you are the 9IDs advisers and diligent partners, my sincere thanks and appreciation for your unwavering support. Your expertise, dedication, and commitment greatly contributed to the significant accomplishment and raised this Command to its heights through the years.”
Their unwavering dedication, he said has played a crucial role in the adoption of best practices and the exchange of innovative ideas, contributing significantly to the division’s progress and effectiveness.

“With the support and commitment of our partner and stakeholders, particularly the 9ID MSAB, through the leadership of Msgr. Zosimo Ma Sañado, let us continue to initiate innovations, solidify strategies, and adopt best practices towards the attainment of the Army 2040 vision,” the commander added.
Major General Bajao also highlighted the triumphs of the Philippine Army, with special emphasis on the noteworthy accomplishments of the 9th Infantry Division in establishing a peaceful environment for the Bicolanos.
He highlighted that the division’s success was demonstrated through the multiple successful operations against Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) and the rising number of surrendering CTG members.
“The 9th ID has accomplished a lot in pursuing a secure and peaceful environment for the Bicolanos as manifested by the numerous operational gains against the Communist Terrorist Groups as what recently happened in Daraga encounter, which resulted in the neutralization of two (2) CTG members. This is a clear manifestation of our peace efforts, to safeguard the welfare of the Bicolanos and drive positive results,” the official said.
New MSAB members take oath
As the 9th ID MSAB continues to innovate, it has added more sectoral representatives to the board.
This strategic move aims to provide the Philippine Army with more insights and assistance and increased support regarding various sectoral concerns.
Recognizing the significant role of the health sector in establishing a resilient healthcare system, MSAB has extended an invitation to the Chief of the Office for Strategy Management (OSM) at Bicol Medical Center (BMC) Roselyn C. Serrano, RN, MAN, Ph.D., to represent the health sector.

Dr. Serrano’s expertise will be instrumental in assisting MSAB in formulating policies aimed at enhancing public health and mitigating health inequalities. Her involvement will contribute to the development of strategic initiatives that align with the broader goals of fostering an inclusive healthcare system.
In cognizance of the Indigenous Peoples’ right to representation in governance, the 9th ID has extended an invitation to Eden Malaya, the Indigenous Person Mandatory Representative (IPMR) from Buhi, Camarines Sur to represent the IP sector in the MSAB.
Major General Bajao is confident that the inclusive representation of various sectors within the MSAB will significantly enhance the army’s ability to effectively address the needs of the community and achieve its objectives.
“We still have a lot to do, if we are to aim for lasting peace and sustainable development as the challenge to eradicate peace spoilers or the remnants of the CTGs in the region remains a serious concern. We are lucky to have the MSAB, representing the different sectors of society, for your advice and insights will be of great importance in speeding up the realization of our much-dreamt peace in the area,” the army official concluded.
