BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) — The Provincial Government of Nueva Vizcaya and the SN Aboitiz Power, Inc. have recently agreed to implement a reforestation project to fortify the province’s resources and potential as the watershed haven of Cagayan Valley.
Nueva Vizcaya Gov. Jose Gambito said the partnership project involves the reforestation of five hectares of plantation site in Barangay Sta. Maria in Dupax del Sur town.
“This reforestation project is not just about planting trees, it’s about planting hope for future generations. We are grateful for SNAP’s support and we are confident that this endeavor will contribute to the preservation of our province’s natural beauty and biodiversity,” he said.
Gambito signed a Memorandum of Agreement with SNAP officials who committed to provide funding requirements for the reforestation project through its Corporate Social Responsibility fund.
Ness Adsuara, senior manager of Plant Support Services of SNAP, said an investment of P700,000 has been set aside by the company to jumpstart the project.
“Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond our business operations. We are proud to partner with the government of Nueva Vizcaya in this reforestation effort that aligns with our vision of powering positive change and dedication in giving back to the community and fostering a greener future,” she said.
Adsuara said the reforestation project aims to rehabilitate the local ecosystem, prevent soil erosion, and enhance carbon sequestration, which are vital factors in mitigating the effects of climate change.
She said local residents will be involved in the reforestation efforts, thereby creating job opportunities and promoting environmental stewardship within the community. (OTB/BME/PIA NVizcaya)
