BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – All 27 municipalities in Abra have completed data collection for the 2024 Population Census (PopCen) and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) surveys.
Philippine Statistics Authority-Abra Chief Statistical Specialist Felixberto Perdido shared that they already finished data collection for all the municipalities in the province on September 17, 2024.
Perdido said that map processing is already ongoing while data processing will start on October 9, 2024. He explained that data processing is the next stage of the census and CBMS that were simultaneously conducted to gather critical data to assist in the decision making of the government and the private sector.
“Talagang kailangan iyang datos kasi it will serve as a statistical tool. Sa CBMS, it will be used in the planning for poverty alleviation and development plans and programs. Ito namang census, it will serve as input by our planners in which to base their economic plans and programs,” he stressed.
Perdido added that the CBMS will serve as a basis for government programs and services such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Listahanan or poverty database and the updating of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino list of beneficiaries.
The census, on the other hand , will be a basis for the allocation of resources and the creation of a barangay, among others. Perdido reported that almost all the provinces in the country are on track in the statistical operation.
“Data collection is until September 15 but it was moved due to work suspension dahil sa malakas ang ulan but iyong target na processing ng documents is until December para by next year makapagpalabas na ng result,” he said.(JJPM-PIA CAR, Abra)
