BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – More than a hundred senior citizens from the different municipalities in Abra received cash gifts from the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) during a three-day payout from April 23-25, 2025.
“Agyamanak ta adda ti in-inutek nga igatang ti agas ko ta mapukawak ngatan nu awan ti agas ko,” 95 year-old Venancia Alunday expressed during the distribution of cash incentives at the Provincial Capitol in Bangued.
Pedrito Biñegas is also thankful for the incentive that will help him with his daily needs.
“Pagyamyamanan tayo ta adda maintenance ko nga losartan and then daily needs like water, electricity and other kitchen needs,” the 90 year-old Lagangilang native shared.
Alunday and Biñegas are among the 172 senior citizens aged 80, 85, 90, and 95 who received P10,000 milestone cash gifts.
Meanwhile, two centenarians from Licuan-Baay and Manabo got P100,000.
The cash gifts will be used for medical expenses and other basic necessities of senior citizen beneficiaries.
Under the Expanded Centenarians Act of 2024, senior citizens who reached 80, 85, 90, 95, and 100 years-old are given monetary gifts to ensure that the Filipino elderly receive recognition and assistance in various milestone ages.
On February 28 this year, the NCSC held the first distribution of cash gifts to 10 senior citizens in Abra during the inaugural distribution program in Bangued. (JJMT, PIA-CAR, Abra)
