Abra folks benefit from ‘Handog ng Pangulo’ gov’t convergence activity

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) — About a thousand of Abrenians benefit from the different programs and services of various government agencies in the “Handog ng Pangulo Serbisyong Sapat para sa Lahat” at the Abra Sports Complex Gymnasium on September 13, 2024.

“This interagency convergence in support to President Bongbong Marcos’ Bagong Pilipinas is a nationwide simultaneous distribution of comprehensive government assistance. This is a manifestation of the government’s collective commitment to bring services closer to the people,” stressed Bangued Vice-Mayor Kiko Bernos who represented Gov. Dominic Valera.

Among the highlights of the activity were the distribution of assistance to farmers, payout of Government Internship Program (GIP) beneficiaries, turn-over of livelihood assistance, free medical and health check-ups, distribution of assistance to cooperators, diskwento caravan, distribution of Shared Service Facilities (SSF), skills demonstration, distribution of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority TESDA scholarship allowances, and free enrollment of technical-vocational courses, among others.

Edgar Frado, an ice cream vendor from Udangan, La Paz, expressed gratitude for the livelihood package he received from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). It will augment his source of income and help meet his family’s needs.

“Dakkel nga pagyamanak dagitoy tulong yo kanyak ta adda igatang ko a pang-negosyo,” he said.

Like Frado, Angelita Millian from Layugan, Bucay, received a street vending livelihood project from DOLE. This will help her earn additional money for the allowance and school needs of her children.

“Makatulong daytoy ti ubbing nga agbasbasa. Pangbalon ken diayay panagbasa na, adda igatang ti gamit na,” she shared.

Meanwhile, Constantino Paawa, a farmer from Dulao, Malibcong, is glad to receive P5,000 under the Department of Agriculture’s Rice Farmers Financial Assistance. The money will help him buy inputs for his farm and his family.

“Agyamanak para daytoy ta matulungan ti pamilya mi para ti kanin mi ken maigatang para ti tal-talon mi,” he expressed.

During the event, DOLE distributed P441,421 worth of livelihood packages to beneficiaries from Tayum, Dolores, San Isidro, Bucay, Sallapadan, Lagangilang, and Pilar. It also conducted the payout of GIP beneficiaries.

The DA also gave out P11,075,175.86 in various farm assistance and inputs to farmers and farmer associations and cooperatives.

Three cooperators also received P2.5 million assistance under the Department of Trade and Industry’s SSF. DTI-assisted businesses also sold local products during the event.

The TESDA also provided services, demonstrations, and distributed more than P800,000 under the Training Support Fund and Awarding of Toolkits.

The Department of Health led by guest Undersecretary Mary Ann Maestral also distributed medical equipment to identified beneficiaries, and provided free medicines and check up.

Said activity was also supported by provincial agency directors, and provincial government department heads. (JJPM-PIA CAR, Abra)
