BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – Department of Agriculture (DA)-Cordillera director Jennilyn Dawayan announced that the province of Abra will receive P167-million worth of interventions to support the rice program initiatives for 2025.
“This funding will support farm input and incentives for agricultural workers who are providing technical assistance,” Dawayan explained during the opening of the Abrenian Kawayan Festival Abrenio Fair at the AbraSports Complex.
Last year, the DA allotted a total of P172-million worth of agricultural support ranging from fertilizers, seed assistance, incentives to agricultural workers, and investment to infrastructure projects.
“We also support the katutubo. We continue to empower the indigenous peoples organizations, giving them the tools to improve their livelihood,” she said.
Abra as a rice-producing province, contributes a substantial portion to the regional rice household stocks in the Cordillera.
Dawayan also recognized the hard work of Abra farmers and the province’s rich agricultural potentials with its various produce such as rice, corn, sugarcane, tobacco, honey, and coffee among others.
“As we continue to progress, let us remain mindful of their [farmers] contributions to ensure food security and for them to receive the recognition they deserve,” she stressed.
