Abra LGU lights up town plaza with SGLG incentive fund

Local Government Unit officials headed by Tayum Mayor Placido Eduarte Jr. and DILG-Abra Cluster Head Mary Jane Abance led the inauguration and turn-over ceremony of the solar-powered light lamp project funded under the Seal of of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund on January 27, 2025 at the Tayum Town Plaza.

TAYUM, Abra (PIA) — Townsfolk here are now enjoying a well-lit town plaza with the recent installation of multiple solar powered light-lamps.

This project was funded through the Seal of Local Good Governance-Incentive Fund (SGLG-IF) given to the municipal local government unit (LGU) as an SGLG awardee for 2022 and 2023.

With a total budget of P1.8 million, 27 lamp posts were installed illuminating and boosting beauty of  the town plaza.

Tayum Mayor Placido Eduarte Jr. said that the lighting system will ensure a safer and more secured community against crime.

[This helps a lot especially in fighting criminality so we decided to use our SGLG incentive fund for this solar system street lights.]

The mayor said that it will also help the LGU in saving electricity bills.

DILG-Abra Cluster Head Mary Jane Abance congratulated the LGU, stating that the SGLG-IF is a reward for their efforts towards good local governance.

“This SGLG-IF, this is your reward for your countless efforts. Ito ang patunay na mayroong transparency and accountability towards good governance so I congratulate everyone,” Abace said.

Tayum LGU is a six-time SGLG awardee. It was recently re-classified from 5th class to 1st class municipality. (JDP/CAGT-PIA CAR ,Abra)
