BANGUED, Abra (PIA) — Local products like Abra delicacies, loom-woven clothes, agricultural produce, furniture, handicrafts including works of inmates of the Bucay District Jail are featured in this year’s Dapil Festival Trade Fair.
Bangued Mayor Mila Valera and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Abra Provincial Director Marvin Arcangel led the opening of the trade fair which is participated by 30 micro, small and medium enterprises. The trade fair will be run until February 24.
Aside from promoting and supporting local products and businesses, the trade fair also serves as an avenue to help Abrenian entrepreneurs market their goods.
Entrepreneur Maria Zita Benabese who makes native designs with Abra’s ‘Inabel’ or loom-woven cloths has been actively participating in the trade fairs.
She shared that participating trade fair is a chance to boost her sales since she caters to more customers in each event.
“Adu ti personal a makakita dagitoy design ket adu metten ti ag-order kaniami ditoy. Nu diay kami lang balay, haandakami met makita isu nga umumay kami ditoy trade fair,” Benabese said.
[We participate trade fairs because many can personally see our designs, and many will place their orders here. If we stay at home, no one will see us.]
“Kanayun nak nga maki-join ti trade fair uray jay Manila, ken uray dinnu, uray adda bayadna mapanak latta ta adu met ti malakoak,” she added.
[I always join trade fairs, even in Manila or anywhere else, and even if there is a fee because I can sell a lot there.]
Trade fairs have been a part of the week-long celebration of the annual Dapil Festival providing an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to showcase and market their local products, likewise Bangued’s One-Town, Own-Product. (JDP/CAGT-PIA CAR, Abra)
