Abra PNET employs MELLPI Pro Tool

Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO) designate Glenda Benedito leads the Provincial Nutrition Evaluation in Dolores, Abra.

DOLORES, Abra (PIA) — The Provincial Nutrition Evaluation Team (TEAM) assesses the performance and functionality of the Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) using the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro Tool.

Dolores is the first town in Abra  evaluated  using said tool, and garnered a net score of 45.67 from the six  assessment dimensions.

Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO) designate Glenda Benedito explained that the evaluation team was grouped in each dimension to facilitate a more efficient evaluation process.

“Mas efficient ‘tong MELLPI Pro tool since lima lang na areas ang evaluate natin, so we group the monitoring team to evaluate the local nutrition committee’s vision and mission, nutrition laws, governance and structure, committee functions, services and changes nutritional status,” Benedito explained.

One of the notable improvement is the nutritional status of children in the municipality.

Dolores Municipal Health Officer Dr. Darbie Madriaga cited the appointment the Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator has contributed to the improvement on nutritional status.

“Dakkel ti tulong na ti dagitoy  na-create nga position ta isu ti mangasikaso ti nutrition concerns.  Hopefully, manayonan to pay ti Health and Safety Officer,” he said.

[The newly created positions help a lot  as they will be in charge with the nutrition concerns. Hopefully, new positions like health and safety officer will also be created]

This monitoring ensures proper implementation of nutrition-related programs, activities and projects. (CAGT-PIA CAR, Abra)
