Abra provincial gov’t gives logistics support to boost cop operations and visibility

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – The provincial government of Abra committed logistics support to the provincial police to ramp up mobilization and visibility, particularly in the capital town of Bangued.

During the Regional Peace and Order Council emergency meeting in Camp Juan Villamor in Calaba, Bangued, Acting Governor Russell Bragas shared that the provincial government has committed fuel subsidy and repairs of police mobile vehicles to improve crime prevention efforts amidst the rising crimes in the province.

“On top of our assistance to the provincial police office of giving gasoline allowances for their patrol vehicles, we also committed to give the municipal police station of Bangued another 100 liters of gasoline allowance per week,” he shared.

Aside from the fuel subsidy, the provincial government also opened its  motorpool for the repair of police vehicles to maximize assets for crime prevention.

Bragas also emphasized that while investigations are ongoing on the recent crimes in the province, crime prevention must also be a priority  especially in the town centers.

“I requested them [police] for more active and more police visibility in the populated area in the business establishments, in the schools, and the commercial areas of the province,” Bragas added.

During the meeting, the Acting Governor also asked the police forces to conduct thorough and aggressive investigation of crime incidents, regardless if it is election-related or not.

“Leave no stones unturned. Election-related or not, it will still be a cause of alarm. There is still a violation of the sanctity of life and liberty of our people,” he appealed.

He added that the rising cases of violence also reflects on the image of the province which affects tourism and potential business opportunities, among others. (JJMT, PIA-CAR, Abra)
