BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – Jail Senior Inspector Jan Vincent V. Damian was recognized as Provincial Jail Administrator of the Year during the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Cordillera (BJMP-CAR) 33rd anniversary celebration in Baguio City.
Damian, who assumed as the Abra Provincial Jail Administrator on June 16, 2023, implemented programs and policies that improved communication and compliance through regular personnel sessions.
Under his administration, safety in jail facilities within the province was also enhanced with the conduct of thorough inspections.
Promotion of the different programs of the district jails such as the handicraft and handmade products as livelihood for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) continued with their participation in local trade fairs among others.
Aside from acting as Abra Provincial Jail Administrator, he is also the current Regional Chaplain of the Cordillera, Regions 1, 2, and 3 holding religious services, community masses, and providing spiritual guidance.
“This achievement is an inspiration to continue striving for excellence and fostering positive change within our justice system,” Damian said as he expressed gratitude for the award.
He also extended his appreciation to the province of Abra and partners who continue to lend a hand to help the PDLs inside the district and provincial jail facilities.
“We have prioritized rehabilitation, safety, and the well-being of everyone in our care. I am grateful for the support of our community and the trust placed in us.”
His exceptional performance has been previously commended in various awards such as the Jail Provincial Administrator Award for the 3rd Quarter of 2023, and “Asia’s Man of Compassion and Most Exceptional Public Servant and Inspiring Humanitarian Hero of the Year” from the Asia’s Humanitarian Hero Awards 2024.
