Abra upland products highlight Waray Festival mini trade fair

Farmers’ cooperatives, associations, and local businesses showcase and market their products during the 2025 Waray Festival Mini-Trade Fair held at the Manabo Town Hall grounds.

MANABO, Abra (PIA) – Local products from the upland towns of Abra such as traditional rice, fruit wines, honey, fresh vegetables, turmeric, and coffee were showcased during the 2025 Waray Festival Mini-Trade Fair.

Manabo Department of Trade and Industry Coordinator Divina Licuben shared that the activity held from February 9-12, 2025 aimed to promote local products and help farmers, small businesses and cooperatives market their goods.

“Ti ammo tayo ket awanen ti cooperatives ti nadumaduma nga munisipyo aglalo na ti upland ngem adda gayam so dagitoy da nga adda ditoy [trade fair],” she explained.

Licuben added that some cooperatives from other municipalities such as the Kili Rural Improvement Club from Tubo and Rose Fruit Wine Manufacturing from Sabnangan in Luba town also promoted their products at the mini-trade fair.

“Daytoy trade fair naangay ket daytoy ti mang-connect iti local products ti Manabo nga kasla pagkakitaan met nga adda proyekto tayo nga insayangkat ti DTI in cooperation with the DTI,” she shared. 

Meanwhile, Rural Improvement Club Agriculture Cooperative president Emilia Salvador expressed gratitude for the assistance to small organizations including the trade fair that provides an avenue to promote their products.

“Talagang importante sa amin ito kasi ito ang aming kinabubuhay araw-araw,” she said.

The Waray Festival is an annual event led by the local government unit to highlight their local sticky rice also called ‘Waray’ which is the primary commercial rice product of the town. (JJMT, PIA-CAR, Abra)
