Abra Water District offers free ride for concessionaires

BANGUED, Abra (PIA) – The Metro Bangued Water District (MBWD) is offering free tricycle rides to all its concessionaires who pay their water bills or issues at the office.

MBWD General Manager Kathleen Maria Balbin-Tawantawan shared that the initiative called

“Libreng Sakay Ngayong Tag-Ulan 2024” offers free tricycle ride from their office to any point within Bangued starting June 4.

Tawantawan said this is under its Gender and Development program, and a part of Father’s Day celebration.

“In celebration of Father’s Day, makatulong tayo kadagiti amma nga TODA (Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association) ditoy opisina ken at the same time, makatulong payen iti transportasion dagiti umay ditoy opisina,” she said.

A concessionaire or a resident who goes to the MBWD office to pay his water bill or transact business is given a stub which he will give to the tricycle driver as his payment.

Tricycle driver Rolly Pemado said that the Libreng Sakay earns him extra income as a TODA member of MBWD.

“Nu malpas kami nga makapasadan ti malem umay kami metten agi-remit ti stub ditoy opisina ti MBWD ket dakkel nga tulong daytoy kadakami ta adda nayun ti paggasolina mi,” he said.

The  Libreng Sakay initiative of the MBWD was launched last year to provide hassle-free travel while saving on transportation costs.

“Daytoy nga libreng sakay nga ipapaay ti Metro Bangued Water District ket nay-launch idi last year idi time ni Egay (Super Typhoon), ket isu ti napanunot mi nga para iti GAD program,” she said.
