BANGUED, Abra (PIA) — At least 20 women in Abra are participating in the Department of Communication and Information Technology (DICT)-led technical training program on English as Second Language (ESL) Course for Women.
This free ESL course training is under the Strengthening the Philippine Workforce through Adaptive and Responsive Digital Knowledge (SPARK) Program of the DICT.
DICT-Abra Project Development Officer Kevin Tarriela said that the training will capacitate and enhance the communication skills of participants who are soon to be ESL teachers and tutors.
The participants will undertake five days of face-to-face fundamental training and another five days for the online campaign which will employ their improved skills.
“The training proper takes place from October 7-11. After that, they will be taking their skills online where they will coach clients. This will eventually become a livelihood for them,” he said.
The participants are expected to graduate on October 30, 2023 and will receive a training certificate which will qualify them to become ECL teachers.
DICT invited one of its former mentees, Marivic Flores, who is now an online English teacher to train the participants. She emphasized that becoming an online teacher will open up access to learning English across the globe.
“I went through the training programs of DICT also like you and joining an English Language training like this will contribute to global access to English Language Learning,” Flores stated.
“Ang clients niyo talaga ay international students as this field is experiencing rapid growth offering numerous learning opportunities for students worldwide,” she added. (JDP/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
