AFP assets ready for deployment amid cyclones’ devastation

QUEZON CITY (PIA) — The Armed Forces of the Philippines’s (AFP) air, sea, and land assets are ready for deployment in the wake of Super Typhoon Leon (Kong-Rey), as these have been prepositioned for operations in response to Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (Trami).

In an interview of PTV4’s Special Report on Thursday, Oct. 31, Spokesperson Col. Francel Padilla said that the AFP has prepared 3,312 land assets, 120 sea assets, and 40 air assets all ready for deployment wherever they are needed.

She added that five foreign aircraft from Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia are also ready to help the AFP.

Forces from different countries participating in military exercises here in the country are also helping in relief, rescue, and retrieval operations.

Padilla assured the public that the AFP has enough assets that are ready to respond to emergencies in the aftermath of STS Kristine and Super Typhoon Leon. (PIA DMD)
