QUEZON CITY (PIA)—The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has brought modular tents, blankets, and other forms of assistance to families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (Trami) in the Bicol Region.
This is part of two relief sorties conducted by the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing using a C-295 aircraft to the Bicol International Airport and Naga Airport on October 29.
The PAF said the first sortie delivered modular tents and blankets to provide temporary shelter for displaced individuals. The second sortie transported medical aid, including medicine boxes and a medical team of 18 personnel, to assist those in need of healthcare.
PAF personnel from Tactical Operations Group 4 (TOG 4) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) also delivered a total of 180 jugs of potable drinking water for communities affected by the storm in Barangay Ilaor Sur, Oas, Albay.
“Through these continuous efforts, the PAF remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting the government’s disaster relief initiatives and ensuring the well-being of affected communities,” the PAF highlighted.
Earlier, the PAF was joined by ASEAN member states Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei in extending disaster response efforts and deploying air assets to aid the calamity-hit communities.
The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) utilized a C-130 aircraft to transport vital shelter materials and food packs from Pasay City to Bicol International Airport, while the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) and Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) contributed their Eurocopter EC-725 and C-295 aircraft, respectively, to deliver essential supplies.
“These collaborative relief efforts underscore ASEAN’s commitment to regional support and effective crisis response. This assistance highlights the strength of partnerships within ASEAN, emphasizing the value of unified efforts in addressing the challenges posed by natural disasters. The Philippines extends its deep appreciation to Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei, whose combined efforts reflect the spirit of humanitarian aid and shared commitment to regional stability and resilience,” the PAF said.
