LEGAZPI CITY, Albay (PIA) — The provincial government of Albay has announced the release of P33 million in financial assistance to all local government units (LGUs) and schools division offices (SDOs) affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
Acting Governor Glenda Ong-Bongao stated that the funds, part of the P50-million calamity assistance provided by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during his visit to Camarines Sur on October 26, are being distributed immediately to support relief efforts and rehabilitation plans.
Bongao emphasized the importance of providing immediate support to the LGUs, acknowledging their ongoing efforts to assist affected communities. The remaining funds will be used to further support the province’s relief operations.
Provincial Treasurer Mayflor Atos-Deang said the treasury office distributed on Thursday, October 31, the P33 million among 18 LGUs and four SDOs.
The amount allocated to each LGU and SDO was determined based on the reported severity of damages in their respective areas.
The municipalities of Libon, Polangui, Jovellar, and Oas, which were severely affected by flooding and landslides, each received P3 million.
Ligao City and the municipalities of Tiwi, Guinobatan, and Pio Duran each received P2 million.
The cities of Tabaco and Legazpi and the municipalities of Bacacay, Sto. Domingo, Malinao, Malilipot, Daraga, Rapu-Rapu, and Camalig received P1 million each.
For the schools, the treasury allocated P1.5 million to the Albay SDO, while each of the SDOs in Tabaco, Legazpi, and Ligao received P1,000.
Municipal and city treasurers, SDO supervisors, accountants, and cashiers received the financial aid during the formal handover last October 31, at the Albay Capitol. (PIA5/Albay)
