(Tropical Storm Man-Yi Track and Intensity Forecast, November 13, 2024)
LEGAZPI CITY, Albay (PIA) — The province of Albay is currently on alert and monitoring status as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has forecasted that tropical cyclone “Man-yi” will move toward Southern Luzon upon entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) today, November 14.
Once it enters PAR, Man-yi will be given the local name “Pepito.”
“Pagasa’s forecast expects Man-yi to cross Albay, particularly the eastern portion of the province,” Albay acting Governor and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Chair Glenda Ong-Bongao said in an advisory.
Due to the anticipated threat posed by the weather disturbance, Bongao advised the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) of all cities and municipalities in the province to enter a state of preparedness and monitoring, effective November 13, 2024.
They are also requested to preposition equipment and other necessary resources and to activate the task units of the respective barangay DRRMCs to respond to the effects of Man-yi.
Bongao asked all members of the Albay PDRRMC, particularly the health, engineering and social welfare office of the provincial government, along with the Albay Police Provincial Office, Department of Education, Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, Department of Public Works and Highway District Engineering Offices and Philippine Coast Guard to muster all available resources and facilities needed for possible deployment during pre-emptive activities to mitigate the impacts of Man- yi.
Pagasa said in its Tropical Cyclone Threat Potential Forecast for November 13 – 19 2024 that Man-Yi is expected to move closer to the east of Visayas and Southern Luzon, and then cross the Central-Northern Luzon area. Visit this link for more information: https://bit.ly/TCTHREATDOSTPAGASA
