LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY (PIA5/Albay)— Albay 3rd District Representative Fernando T. Cabredo has alloted a budget for the construction of Bicol University College of Veterinary Medicine at Brgy. Tuburan, Ligao City, Albay on Monday Jan. 2.
’The construction of Bicol University College of Veterinary Medicine in Ligao City has Php250 Million appropriation in the National Budget Fiscal Year (FY) 2023,’’Cabredo announced.
Cabredo principally authored House Bill 10203 or an ‘An act establishing a college of veterinary medicine in Bicol University in the city of Ligao, province of Albay to be known as the Bicol University College of Veterinary Medicine and appropriating funds thereof.” It was filed on Sept. 14, 2021.
The House Committee on Higher and Technical Education (CHTE) approved the HB 10203 on Dec. 7, 2021.
Cabredo showed his appreciation to all those who supported the HB. He said that its intent is to improve the quality of education in the community.
‘’Thanks to the support of my dear colleagues in the House of Representatives (HOR), [former] Ligao City Mayor Patty Gonzalez-Alsua and BU President Noli Mascariñas,’’Cabredo stated.
Libon Vice-Mayor Markgregor Sayson also expressed his support and gratefulness on the establishment of BU College of Veterinary Medicine in Ligao City.
‘’This is indeed a joyful New Year’s gift to the constituents of the Third District of Albay. Many will benefit from having BU College of Veterinary in Ligao City,’’Saysson stated.
‘’Libongeños who dream to become veterinarians will be given the opportunity. A State University means scholarship grant to students once operational,’’ Sayson added.(PIA5/Albay)
