MANILA — The Department of Health (DOH) has put all hospitals nationwide on “Code White Alert” which puts them in the highest state of preparedness to deal with any medical emergencies during the long weekend in observance of All Saints’ Day (November 1) and Souls’ Day (November 2).
In an interview during the “Special Coverage Undas 2024” organized by the Presidential Communications Office and held at the PTV4 studio, Assistant Secretary Albert E. Domingo, DOH spokesman, said Code White Alert stays until November 2.
Assistant Secretary Domingo said the alert status enables and ensures that “all hospitals are totally prepared to deal with any medical emergencies during the long weekend.”
Code White Alert also “puts all health professionals and health personnel and workers on standby to respond to medical emergencies at any time,” he said.
The operations centers of hospitals nationwide are also on standby, while the regional and central offices of the DOH are coordinating with these operation centers, he said.

Assistant Secretary Domingo cautioned persons who plan to go to cemeteries but are not feeling well to stay home instead. “Your dead loved ones will not take it against you if you prioritize your health,” he said.
With the change in temperature and the onset of cold weather, he said influenza-like illnesses are on the rise. Their symptoms include cough, runny nose, fever, and allergies.
He advised the public to ensure that the water they are drinking and the food they are eating is not contaminated to prevent poisoning. (DOH)
