NAVAL, Biliran (PIA) – With the successful conduct of the La Routa Adventure Race in Biliran from November 20 to 24 this year, Jason Garrido, race director, said he is hopeful another international adventure race would take place in Biliran next year.
Garrido said that no less than Heidi Muller, chief executive officer of the Adventure Racing World Series (AWRS), disclosed to him that “If there would be another adventure race, it would be held again in Biliran.”

Muller was in Biliran province for the La Routa Adventure Race, the venue of the ARWS — Asian Regional Championship.
Garrido also said that not only Muller has intimately told him about the plan to have the race held again in the province next year, but also the participating local and international teams.
Stories of hospitality and wonderful experiences of the La Routa adventure race in Biliran were told by some racers who encountered it first hand from the Biliranons, Garrido shared.
He said there was one team who experienced that a church was opened for them to serve as their resting place to pass for the night from a day’s grueling race.

Team FEAR Youth of New Zealand, who emerged as champion in the Elite Category of the La Routa adventure race in Biliran will automatically qualify for the ARWS World Championship in Ecuador in 2024. Nonstop Adventure of Poland came in second place, Kamikaze Adventure Racing Team of Malaysia came in third place, KBS Adventure and Skomad ADV, both teams from Malaysia came in fourth place and fifth place, respectively.
In the Candidate Category of the La Routa Adventure Race in Biliran, Altra Subida bagged the first place, followed by Tres Islas in second, Dirt Adventure Racing in third, Aplot in fourth, Chomolungma from Japan in fifth place, Syrunners and Shershah from India in sixth and seventh place, respectively, Old’s Cool in eight place, and Negrense Adventure Team in ninth place.
