Anti-CPP-NPA-NDF protest in Manila condemns terrorism financing

MANILA, (PIA) — Approximately 30 leaders and members from various organizations gathered outside the Department of Justice in Manila Thursday to voice their support for the government’s ongoing investigation into a terrorism financing case involving figures associated with the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).

The protest was organized by a coalition that included KAKABSAT ILOCOS, SAMAKKA BAYAN, SAMBAYANAN, and Hugpong Obrero.

Many participants were former rebels who have publicly denounced the CPP-NPA-NDF for disseminating misleading narratives and exploiting vulnerable communities, including laborers, indigenous groups, and youth.

During the rally, speakers condemned the CPP-NPA-NDF for allegedly coercing individuals into violent activities and contributing to widespread suffering across the nation.

The former insurgents emphasized the need to end the group’s detrimental influence, asserting that it has misled many into participating in unlawful acts.

As the preliminary investigation progresses, pro-government groups are urging authorities to ensure accountability, calling for those reportedly responsible for funding and supporting terrorism in the Philippines to be held accountable. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
