SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — The National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration in this province officially kicked off, October 7, at the Old Provincial Capitol.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)- Antique Provincial Statistical Office and the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) led the launch of the annual event.
The activity was highlighted by the opening of the NSM 2024 Statistical Exhibit, which features vital data and statistics about Antique, including its socio-economic profile, quarry revenue generation, and poverty incidence, among others.
The 35th iteration of the NSM is anchored on the theme “Advancing Data and Statistics Through Digital Transformation: A Road to an Empowered Nation.”
This highlights the importance of modernizing the country’s statistical system through digital technologies that improve the accuracy, timeliness, and accessibility of statistics.
Through accurate and timely statistics, decision- and policy-makers, and other statistics users are able to create data-driven policies and programs that promote national economic and social development.
In an interview, Supervising Statistical Specialist Rodme Febreo of PSA Antique reiterated the importance of the public providing truthful and accurate responses during surveys.
He said inaccurate and false responses from survey participants would lead to inaccurate statistics and therefore affect the basis for program implementation and policy-making.
For the ongoing and upcoming PSA activities, Febreo urged the public to continue supporting the initiatives of PSA.
Participation in such, he stressed, is every Filipino’s obligation.
The annual observance of National Statistics Month (NSM) began in 1990 through Presidential Proclamation No. 647 signed by then-president Corazon C. Aquino. (AGP/BPS/PIA Antique)
