Antique polls generally peaceful, winners proclaimed

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — The 2025 election in Antique is generally peaceful and winning candidates were all proclaimed.

Antique Police Provincial Office (AnPPO) Provincial Director, Police Colonel Lea Rose B. Peña, in a news release, stated that May 12, 2025 National and Local Elections in Antique province concluded peacefully and securely, with no election-related incident.

Peña said that the successful outcome is attributed to the effective implementation of comprehensive security strategies by the AnPPO, in close coordination with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), teachers, other law enforcement agencies, force multipliers, and the community.

She lauded the collaborative efforts of all the stakeholders as she commended the Antique police force for their unwavering commitment in ensuring a peaceful, secured, fair and orderly election in the province.

Meanwhile the Provincial Board of Canvassers have already proclaimed the winners for the local posts.

Antique’s Lone District Representative Antonio Agapito Legarda was re-elected in the same position with Governor-elect Paolo Everardo S. Javier and Ginevive G. Lim Reyes as newly-elected Vice Governor.

Elected for Sangguniang Panlalawigan are lawyer Alfie Jay Niquia, Dante Beriong, Vincent Piccio III, doctor Zoilo Bernardo Tubianosa, and Fernando Corvera for the South District.

For the North District, proclaimed winners are Karmila Rose Dimamay, Gaseva Recopuerto, Emmanuel C. Palacios, Eugene Alojipan, and Noel Alamis.

Though there were concerns reported during the election day including the lack of ballots in the town of Caluya, COMELEC Antique and the partner agencies have taken appropriate action so the election could continue until the winners are proclaimed.
