Antiqueño farmers get P1.5M farm equipment from DAR

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently turned over P1.5 million worth of farm machineries and equipment (FME) to farmer members of the Lugta Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Association (LARBA) in Lawa-an, Antique.

The FMEs include two rice threshers, four hand tractors with trailers, and four deep wells equipped with water pump engines and accessories.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) II Florentino D. Siladan, in his message during the turnover, stressed the government’s efforts in mitigating the effects of the climate crisis, noting the FMEs are “the government’s response to the growing impact of climate change on farmers.”

Siladan added that DAR goes beyond just distributing land to rightful farmers but provides essential support services to keep agricultural lands productive and satisfy the farmers’ economic needs.

He then urged the beneficiaries to properly maintain their new equipment and support facilities to achieve maximum benefits and ensure sustainability.

Meanwhile, LARBA President Filamie B. Del Rosario conveyed her gratitude to DAR for the continuous support and assistance provided to Antiqueño farmers and promised to use the FMEs with care. (DAR Antique/PIA Antique)
