Antique’s CFM team launches Children’s Month activities

SAN JOSE, Antique- (PIA) — The Provincial Child-Friendly Movement (CFM) launched activities in celebration of the 32nd National Children’s Month.

The provincial government of Antique through the Provincial Health Office conducted a medical-dental activity at Maria Elementary School, Barangay Maria, Laua-an Antique.

Among the services offered are medical consultation with 100 beneficiaries, 50 benefited from dental extraction, and oral health education and fluoride application for Grade 1 pupils.

Children also availed of eye check-up and health education with the distribution of vitamins and other medicines.

The Department of Education also sent dentists and health personnel to conduct dental check-ups and tooth extraction.

The Philippine National Police also conducted a lecture on Good Touch and Bad touch under the child protection program “Oplan Bambino.”

Residents also availed of PhilSys ID registration conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority.The students and local community who went to avail of the services were treated with snacks courtesy of some residents and local officials.

DepEd Antique, with the support of the district office in Laua-an, facilitated the gathering of pupils and community for this event.

Parents and teachers expressed appreciation for the activities conducted in their school since Barangay Maria is an upland community and people have to travel about an hour to the Poblacion where the rural health clinic is located.

CFM Team support staff Prisceli Galuego noted that this event is the first CFM outreach activity in Maria Elementary School.

Other agencies actively supporting the event are local government units of Laua-an, the Provincial Information Office, and the Provincial Planning and Development Office as lead secretariat of the CFM Team.

Acting Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Bien Nallos, during the program at the EBJ Freedom Park on Monday, affirmed the commitment of the Provincial Government and the CFM team to upholding the rights of children in line with the country’s commitment to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
