APLIC encourages children to visit ‘Book Nook’ in Albay provincial library

LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY (PIA5/Albay)—The Albay Provincial Library Information Center (APLIC) launched “The Book Nook” project by the National Book Development Board alongside APLICs’ celebration of World Read Aloud Day (WRAD) 2023 with a theme,’Read aloud, change the world’ at Legazpi City, Feb. 2, Thursday.

The activity aims to provide reading sessions to Albayano children and give them the privilege to use all books available in the provincial library.

‘’The Book Nook projects’ objective is to provide (free reading) access to children especially to members of Indigenous People (IPs),’’ Provincial librarian Amelyn Bautista said.

She noted that they will be conducting storytelling and reading sessions in remote areas around the province of Albay through Book Nook mobile library.

‘’The books in the Book Nook were arranged in the Albay provincial library as a reading space,’’Bautista said.

Bautista stressed that the said project prioritizes the importance of reading at an early age through reading sessions.

In a press release of Albay PIO, pupils from Albay Central School and Bagumbayan Central School were invited to participate in the read-aloud session with Vice Governor Baby Glenda O. Bongao during the launching of the said project.

Also present in the activity are the student-teachers from Daraga Community college.

Bautista also highlighted that they are encouraging all the students, particularly the children to visit, avail, and take advantage of the opportunity given by Book Nook project to enhance their ability to read. (PIA5/Albay/With report from Judith Valenzuela, BU intern)
