TABUK CITY, Kalinga (PIA) — Around 800 members of the Citizens Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) and 400 soldiers of the Philippine Army (PA) will be mobilized to ensure  peaceful and orderly conduct of the national and local elections in Kalinga.

This is based on the military’s deployment and security plans reported by Lieutenant Colonel Jimrhic B. Obias, Commander of the 103rd Infantry Battalion under the 5th Infantry Division, during the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Response Assembly on May 7, 2025.

Obias said personnel will provide logistical support such as transportation and essential supplies, and specialized units will monitor potential security threats and risks from natural hazards and disasters.

Security operations are also being conducted in high-risk areas to deter election-related violence.

Moreover, liaison officers are assigned in key areas to facilitate communication and coordination with other government agencies.

“The Philippine Army is always alert and ready to respond,” Obias said.

Meanwhile, the Kalinga Provincial Police Office reported that 450 personnel were deployed to secure the polls and another 126 personnel consisting of the Army and the police are on standby for augmentation.

Tabuk City Chief of Police Lieutenant Colonel Benson B. Macli-ing assured contingency plans are in place and simulation exercises have been conducted, ensuring the police’s readiness to respond to any incident  during the elections. (IOS-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
