CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) — The 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army’s 502nd Infantry Brigade has trained youths of San Mariano town to be responsible and future good leaders during the Youth Leadership Summit held on November 16-19, 2023, in partnership with its stakeholders and partner agencies.
The 3-day summit was conducted at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Isabela School of Arts and Trade in the City of Ilagan, attended by youth leaders of the town led by Local Youth Development Officer Mark Vincent Galiza.
Commander B/Gen. Eugene Mata said the youth leaders were given the necessary knowledge and information on their important role in their future endeavors.

Mata said the town’s youth leaders were informed on cultural sensitivity, anti-illegal drug campaign shared by the local police, spiritual and reconciliation, criminality involving youth offenders, effects of early pregnancy, environmental protection, deceptive recruitment of the rebel groups, and heard testimonies and revelations of former rebels in returning to the folds of the law.
He said that the town of San Mariano has been declared as insurgency-free along with the towns of San Guillermo and Echague and the youth leaders are expected to help in the maintenance of peace and tranquility of the town.
“We are expecting your dedication to help the town of San Mariano maintain its status as insurgency-free as you are the hope of the next generation in this town,” Mata said.
Meanwhile, San Mariano Vice Mayor Dean Anthony Domalanta lauded the participation of the town’s youth leaders for their full participation in the summit and expecting them to be future responsible leaders.
“You are lucky for participating this Youth Leadership Summit and I hope that the knowledge you gained will be used in your future endeavor as future leaders in the town,” Domalanta said.
He said that the Local Government Unit of San Mariano under the leadership of Mayor Edgar Go will fully support the programs and activities of the youth to develop their potential skills and abilities with the help of other government agencies and non-government organizations. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
