Army unit boosts ‘Piso mo para sa Kinabukasan Ko’ project

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) – – The 1st Cavalry Company, Armor Division of the Philippine Army at Camp Melchor Dela Cruz in Barangay Upi, Municipality of Gamu in this province, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with various partner stakeholders to boost its “Piso mo para sa Kinabukasan Ko” project.

Company Commander Captain Joanna Rose C. Mejia said the project, conceptualized in the spirit of “bayanihan,” aims to provide some school supplies and allowances to indigent and deserving students.

The project was initiated by the army troop in collaboration with the Isabela School of Arts and Trade, the Philippine National Anti-Crime Group, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, a lending company, the Philippine Army Finance Center Producers Integrated Cooperative, and Logistic and Customs Brokerage.

Mejia said personnel of the army unit, together with the other stakeholders, raised funds for the project.

There are now a total of 23 beneficiaries of the project, seven of whom are currently in college education, the army officer added.

Colonel Camilo A. Sadam, assistant chief of staff of the 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, lauded the unit for its outstanding support of civil-military operations.

He also urged the student scholars to continue striving for excellence in their studies.

Meanwhile, Jonavie Mae J. Agarri, a first-year college beneficiary, said the support she received from the project would greatly help her pursue her tertiary education. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
