DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao del Norte – The armed forces recently decorated the Army’s 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division (6ID) and four of its subordinate units in recognition of its outstanding services.
Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete, commander of the Western Mindanao Command, led the awarding ceremony at the Officers’ Clubhouse at the Camp BGen Gonzalo H Siongco in Awang, this municipality, on March 17.
Campaign Streamers Award is a prestigious recognition given by the AFP to military units for their exemplary performance in specific campaigns or operations.
The award acknowledges the achievements of AFP units in successfully accomplishing missions, particularly in internal security operations or significant military campaigns.
Nafarrete, in his message, commended the troops for their relentless dedication and unwavering courage in the fight against insurgency and terrorism.
Their hard work has not only neutralized security threats but has also paved the way for a more stable and peaceful Mindanao, he said.
In a press release, Lt. C. Roden R. Orbon, 6ID spokesperson, stated that the AFP honored the units for their unwavering dedication, strategic excellence, and steadfast commitment to safeguarding national security, peace, stability, and development in Central and South-Central Mindanao.
“Through their relentless efforts and sacrifices, these units have played a significant role in neutralizing security threats, strengthening local governance, and fostering an environment conducive to sustainable progress and prosperity,” Orbon said.
The Joint Task Force Central, under the command of Major General Donald M. Gumiran, received the Chief of Staff, AFP Campaign Streamers for successfully dismantling the Dawlah Islamiyah-Turaife Group; Platoon Ginebra of the Regional Headquarters, Far South Mindanao Region; and Platoon Beijing – Sub-Regional Committee Daguma of Far South Mindanao Region.
Four subordinate units of the 6th Infantry (Kampila)Division were also awarded Campaign Streamers:
- 601st Infantry (Unifier) Brigade for dismantling the Dawlah Islamiyah-Turaife Group
- 603rd Infantry (Persuader) Brigade neutralizing Platoon Beijing, Sub-Regional Committee Daguma of the New Peoples Army’s Far South Mindanao Region;
- 38th Infantry (We Clear) Battalion for dismantling the Guerrilla Front Musa of the Far South Mindanao Region; and
5th Special Forces Battalion dismantling the Guerrilla Front Musa of the Far South Mindanao Region.
Nafarrete encouraged the soldiers to continue their mission with the same level of commitment and excellence, ensuring that their sacrifices contribute to the long-term peace and progress of the region.
He also expressed his gratitude to the officers, enlisted personnel, and stakeholders who have supported these efforts, reaffirming the Armed Forces’ dedication to protecting the nation and its people.
Meanwhile Orbon, their success in counterinsurgency and counterterrorism operations serves as a testament to their dedication to protecting communities and fostering national development.
