Army’s 6ID continues to support reintegration of former rebels

DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao del Norte (PIA) — The 6th Infantry Division (6ID) of the Philippine Army is actively implementing various programs designed to assist former rebels in starting a new life.

During the 13th episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas held recently at Camp BGen Gonzalo H Siongco, Awang, in this town, Lt. Col. Roden Orbon, speaking for the 6ID, highlighted the importance of providing support to those who have chosen to leave behind their previous affiliations.

Orbon elaborated that there are localized programs firmly supported by the Joint Task Force Central in the provinces of Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur, such as the latter’s “Agila Haven.”

Agila Haven is a program that focuses on providing livelihood assistance and training to individuals who have chosen to return to mainstream society in Maguindanao del Sur.

“Sa level ng region, sa BARMM, merong tinatawag na Project Tugon, ganoon din iyon, comprehensive support assistance para doon sa mga dating rebelde,” Orbon said.

(At the regional level, in BARMM, we have this program called Project Tugon, which is also a comprehensive support assistance program for former rebels.)

The Agila Haven program aims to empower former rebels by equipping them with essential skills and resources for sustainable living.

The initiative not only helps these individuals reintegrate but also contributes to the overall peace and stability of the region.

“Iyon ‘yung ini-exemplify natin, malaking bagay din ‘yung training at saka education,” he added.

(That is what we are exemplifying; training is also a big thing, as is education.)

By investing in the future of the former rebels, the 6ID sustains the pursuit of its goal to build a more harmonious community.

These efforts, Orbon explained, reflect a commitment to addressing the root causes of conflict and promoting lasting peace in the areas covered by the 6ID.

As the programs further evolve, the Philippine Army also remains steadfast and dedicated to assisting those who seek a new path in life. (CRM-PIA Region 12)
