ARTA commends Baguio LGU for fully compliant e-business one-stop-shop

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — The Anti – Red Tape Authority (ARTA) commended the Baguio City local government for cutting down excessive bureaucracy through its electronic Business One – Stop – Shop or eBOSS streamlining business permit applications and renewals. 

ARTA Secretary Ernesto Perez led the awarding of the Certificate of Commendation to the Baguio City local government headed by Mayor Benjamin Magalong, for its fully compliant electronic system, in a simple ceremony at the SP Hall of City Hall on Friday (June 7). 

Perez, in his keynote message, lauded Baguio City LGU for its invaluable contribution, and the mayor for his leadership, in the realization of President’s Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision of a progressive Bagong Pilipinas.

“This accomplishment is a testament to the collective effort of the city government led by Mayor Benjamin Magalong, and I am more than excited to award this certificate to each and every one, this is the accomplishment for the people of Baguio.” 

“Mayor Magalong, it is no secret for us that your leadership has been instrumental in propelling Baguio City forward. Your commitment to efficiency aligns perfectly with our President’s advocacies and the vision for a progressive Bagong Pilipinas,” Perez said.

Republic Act 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business law requires all LGUs to set up or operationalize an eBOSS. Baguio City is the 36th LGU commended for fully operationalized eBOSS.   

The eBOSS is also a component of the eLGU (electronic Local Government Unit) System that the ARTA, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Department of Information Communications and Technology (DICT) in a Luzon Cluster Caravan at the Baguio Convention Center last June 5.

Perez outlined that among the 8-point socio-economic agenda of the President is   promoting bureaucratic efficiency and the best way to do it by streamlining and digitalization of all government processes and procedures through the eLGU System, as it will bring in more businesses and investments, more revenues and more importantly it will provide the best services that our people deserve.  

“President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr’s vision for a stronger Philippines guides us today.  He calls for a nation where securing permits and licenses is efficient and citizen-focused. This vision, echoed in the removal of bureaucratic red tape is precisely why we recognize and encourage streamlined and digitalized government processes and procedures down to the barangay level,” Perez said.

DILG Cordillera Regional Director Araceli San Jose, Department of Trade and Industry- CAR Regional Director Juliet Lucas, DICT Technical Operations Chief Allan Lao re-affirmed their respective offices’ commitment in the advocacy and in providing support to Cordillera LGUs towards their transformation into the eLGU system.
