ISABELA CITY (PIA) – The local government of Isabela City de Basilan has received the prestigious Seal of e-BOSS Compliance from the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) for its innovative business registration process.
The award recognizing the city’s commitment to digitalization and efficiency was presented by Secretary Ernesto V. Perez, ARTA Director General during the townhall meeting in Isabela City attended by representatives from different offices, organizations and from the 45 barangays of the city.
The city’s electronic business one-stop shop (e-BOSS) system has streamlined transactions, making it easier for entrepreneurs to start and operate their businesses.
In his message, Secretary Perez lauded the efforts of Isabela City in implementing the e-BOSS.
This is a very remarkable achievement, the first in the province of Basilan, the 51st out of more than 1,500 LGUs to be commended. You even surpassed cities in the NCR like Makati, Las Piñas, Taguig, Caloocan, Pasig—you got ahead of them. Truly, it’s time, and that time has begun here in the City of Isabela. Today, we honor Isabela City for establishing an electronic business one-stop shop”, Secretary Perez said.
Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman expressed her gratitude to all those who have contributed to the city’s achievement, including the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Beaure of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the different departments of the LGU such as the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO). She stressed that this achievement is a significant milestone in making business easy in Isabela City.
Aside from Seal of eBOSS Compliance, the ARTA also awarded Certificate of Commendation to the City Government of Isabela for being one of the exemplary local government units (LGUs) in the streamlining and simplification of business permitting and licensing procedures and fully setting-up an Electronic Business One-Stop-Shop (eBOSS) in compliance with ARTA-DTI-DILG-DICT Joint Memorandum Circular No. 01 series of 2021, and Republic Act No.11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018 thereby providing quality and efficient service to the public.
Furthermore, Mayor Turabin-Hataman also stressed that the Commendation and Seal of e-BOSS Compliance is a significant recognition of Isabela City’s commitment to public service and business-friendly initiatives.
The eBOSS is aimed to streamline the procedures for the filing of applications and issuance of local business licenses, permits, clearances, and authorizations through the LGU’s provision and usage of an on-demand single, digital portal.
LGUs were mandated to implement eBOSS three years upon the effectivity of Republic Act 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018, pursuant to Section 11 (c) of the same law. Accordingly, all cities and municipalities shall comply with the automation requirements under said provision by 17 June 2021. (JPA/EDT/NDR/PIA Basilan)
