LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) — The Agricultural Training Institute in the Cordillera region looks forward to bolstering a sustainable hog industry in the province of Ifugao through a 30-sow level swine multiplier farm (SMF) and techno-demo project at Poblacion West in the municipality of Lamut.
Funded under DA’s Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) Program, P5 million was provided for the construction of an airconditioned building for high-quality breeder stocks and sow-weaner production, and P5 million for the stocks, feeds and biologics.
The lot where the building is being constructed was purchased by the provincial government, Provincial Veterinarian Roland Pila said.
“We are thankful to the full support of the provincial local government unit to the program. We hope and pray also that the objectives of this program to provide quality breeding stocks to our farmers will be fulfilled,” ATI-Cordillera Assistant Training Center Director Maximino R. Aromin Jr. said.
Municipal Agriculturist Michael Tegui-in thanked the PLGU for choosing Lamut as the host municipality of the provincial breeding center.
“This project will strengthen other multiplier farms in the municipality and complement the operation of the double AA slaughter house,” he said.
Tegui-in assured their support for the promotion of the facility not only in Lamut but to other municipalities considering that swine multiplier farm is a provincial facility that will cater to the needs of livestock growers in Ifugao.
Poblacion West Punong Barangay Ronald Daulayan said the project is timely and very important with the effect of the African Swine Fever. (MBL-PIA CAR, Ifugao)
