CITY OF CALAPAN, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Mimaropa launched the Training of Trainers (TOT) on Coconut Farm Business School (FBS), aimed at equipping agricultural experts and educators; especially those who practice coconut farming with knowledge and skills to generate more income and develop their capacity for running a profitable business.
The TOT will last for 5 days, which will be conducted from November 6 to 11, will bring together professionals from various agricultural backgrounds for an intensive and insightful training experience. Beneficiaries for the series of activities comprised of participants from the Oriental Mindoro Association of Learning Sites for Agriculture.
The activity is a significant step towards improving the coconut farming industry in Oriental Mindoro. With coconut farming being a crucial sector in the province’s agricultural landscape, the need for well-trained farmers and educators cannot be overstated. The training program aims to fill this crucial gap by developing competent trainers who can in turn educate and mentor future coconut farmers as well as giving them an idea on how to further generate income with coconut production.
“This training will help promote the entrepreneurial mindset of farmers by emphasizing the agribusiness side of coconut production to generate more income and develop their capacity for running a profitable business”, this was according to ATI Mimaropa Center Director Pat Andrew B. Barrientos.
The director also reminded the participants of their upcoming role of being the government’s force multiplier in promoting the coconut industry not just in the province but also in the whole of region of Mimaropa.
Dir. Barrientos also emphasized the importance of RA 11524 or the Coconut Farmers Industry Trust Fund and its corresponding components highlighting the support they can get from respective partner agencies who committed in supported coconut farmers. (JJGS/PIA Mimaropa)
