Authorities, LGUs assure public safety this Holy Week

TAGUM CITY,  Davao del Norte (PIA)–Authorities and local governments in the province of Davao del Norte have  assured   public  safety for  all  including children, during the 2025 Holy Week season.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) Emergency Operation Center (EOC) of Davao del Norte has hoisted the blue alert status in observance of the Holy Week 2025 in reference to the RDRRMC Memo NO. 34, s 2025.

The Blue alert status of Davao del Norte PDRRMC OEC is raised in “anticipation of the influx of people during the Semana Santa to  Davao del Norte.”

PDRRMC  also has directed all C/MDRRMCs and concerned PDRRMC Davao del Norte agencies to raise their  respective operation center in Blue Status

PDRRMO Davao del Norte Department Head Glenda Delideli told PIA Davao del Norte  said that the  office now works on a 24-7 scheme with  three teams rotating round-the-clock, specifically the Operation and Early Warning Division, the Ambulance Operations, and the DavNor Emergency 911.

“The OpCen personnel and  the responders stay on call during this period,” she said, referring to the Blue Alert Status.

Callers with Globe-loaded line can dial 911 to connect with the PDRRMO EOC in case of emergency. Globe callers without load can opt to  dial 112, while those with Smart and Talk and Text line can dial 0908-813-2007 to  seek assistance.

Meanwhile, Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office (DNPPO) has assured the public of security during the  Holy Week season while reinforcing security operations to guarantee a safe, orderly, and credible May 12 elections.

In a social media post, DNPPO says that it  has  strategically deployed personnel and intensified police visibility in key areas such as places of worship, transport terminals, and tourist destinations.

The DNPPO  also works in close coordination with LGUs, other law enforcement agencies, and community stakeholders to maintain peace and order across the province during these periods. 

On  the other hand, Island Garden City of Samal Mayor Al Davide Uy has signed Executive Order No. 12 series of 2025, providing for the Guidelines during the Holy Week in the Island Garden City of Samal, putting emphasis on  children during curfew, saying “beginning April  13, 2025 until April 20, all minors/children below shall 18  years old are  prohibited to loiter, stray or wander outside their house, dormitory or boarding house from 10:00 p.m to 5:00 a.m.”

Minors can be outside their homes during curfew only  when they are with a parent or guardian; during emergencies such as fires, disasters  or  accidents; when going to or coming directly from school or work; and when attending supervised school, religious, civic activities, returning home directly afterward.

The EO also obliges parents or guardians to monitor the activities of their minors and ensure that they are home before the curfew.

Moreover, the Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSEM) “reminds everyone to prioritize safety while  going  to beaches in Davao Region.

It has posted in its  social media page the hotline numbers of all Coast Guard Sub-stations regionwide. (JMDA)
